For many years, Kittiwake was one of my main bogey birds around Peterborough. Finally, I found one in March 2008 at Maxey. And since then I have seen just three: a first-winter at Ferry Meadows, an adult there (plus a dead adult also there) and an adult at Baston & Langtoft Pits. And that was it, until today, with a bird, which I believe to be a second-winter (judging by the black in the upperwing coverts)found by Matt Webb (Ace FMCP Birdfinder General), just as I was cycling into the park. Thanks to the power of WhatsApp, I was watching and photographing this obliging individual within minutes. Let's hope it sticks around...
